Couple's Therapy and Marriage Counseling

Most couples don’t seek out therapy after one bad argument. They usually seek support after years of having the same argument – the one where nothing ever quite gets resolved, where distance has crept in, and where both people are wondering what happened to the ease they used to have.

You should be happy to know that if this is your experience, this is not a relationship flaw – it’s a pattern that likely has some deep roots – some of which probably was there before you even met! And the best part is: patterns can change.

Most couples I work with come to therapy for…

  • Communication that keeps breaking down – neither feel seen or heard, and negative patterns keep repeating
  • Recurring conflict with no resolution –  these are likely small disagreements that grow over time when nothing seems to change
  • Emotional distance or disconnection – once a negative pattern is the norm, it’s hard to feel emotionally safe and connected
  • Rebuilding trust after betrayal or a difficult season – trust is built intentionally, with small, transparent steps, not a big grand gesture
  • Navigating major transitions: parenting, career change, loss, relocation, financial struggles, aging parents, or questioning future of the marriage
  • Wanting to feel like partners again, not just co-managers of life – no more living like roommates!

How I work with couples

I draw my approach from a variety of proven modalities, including the Gottman Method, attachment theory, Internal Family Systems and mindfulness. My goal is working with couples is to help both partners feel seen, heard and validated in their experience and emotions, develop greater awareness of the ongoing patterns beneath the disconnection, cultivate deeper compassion for the past that lead to the present, heal the wounds that are preventing the couple from responding in a new way, and build a repertoire of tools that can be accessed, even if emotions are high. Healing and connection are entirely possible when both partners are committed to the journey.

I also bring my whole self into the work. I don’t show up as a “blank slate therapist” meaning that you’ll get to know me as it relates to our work, as I believe that sharing and role models the tools in action is a great way to learn. I don’t just teach all of this, I live it daily in my life and relationships.

Sessions are available virtually throughout California and as in-person intensives in Danville, CA.
