About Joree Rose
Marriage and Family Therapist Based in Danville, CaliforniaMy Work Is Personal, Because Healing Is Personal
I didn’t come to this work through training and theory alone. I came to it through my own lived experience of growth, healing, and transformation.
Like many of the clients I work with – high-achieving, overwhelmed individuals, couples navigating disconnection, or people who are holding it all together but can feel like it could all crash down in a moment – I know what it’s like to appear fine on the outside, while struggling internally. I’ve navigated and healed my own patterns, relationships, and inner landscapes. And I continue to do so.
The therapeutic approaches I use with clients – mindfulness-based therapy, attachment work, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Gottman Method and a client-centered approach – are practices and tools I actively use in my own life. They’ve helped me develop greater self-awareness, emotional steadiness, and genuine compassion for myself and others. That lived experience informs everything about how I show up as a therapist.
I believe my willingness and vulnerability of being human, not just knowledgeable about theories and effective tools, is what allows my clients to feel safe enough to do their own meaningful work.
What Clients Feel When Working With Me
I work with individuals and couples across California (and offer coaching throughout the world) who are ready to move beyond surviving and into something more aligned, intentional and responsive. Many come in feeling stuck, reactive, or quietly overwhelmed despite their outward success.
Through our work together, clients often:
- Feel deeply understood and validated, sometimes for the first time
- Develop compassion for how their patterns formed, without shame or self-judgment
- Recognize when they’re getting stuck and learn why, with curiosity instead of criticism
- Respond with intention rather than react automatically in relationships, at work, and within themselves
Many clients tell me they begin to hear a steadier, more grounded inner voice – one that offers perspective and choice in moments that used to feel out of control. That voice, over time, becomes their own.
Areas of Specialty
- Adults: Life is hard and there is no rule book for managing emotions, relationships, hardships, parenting, grief, loss, anxiety and simply being human in the world today. It’s so normal to feel overwhelmed by the day-to-day grind, and even harder when we have unresolved wounds running the show. Growth and healing are possible and starts with an openness to learning new tools and skills.
- Couple’s Counseling & Marriage Therapy: Working with couples is a complex puzzle of past patterns, current wounds and often an ability to feel truly seen, heard and validated. In working with couples, we work to understand the pieces of your individual puzzle so that you can increase awareness of the repetitive patterns and learn new ways to get unstuck faster on a path towards healing, repair and connection. In addition to the work I do with couples, my husband, Dr. John Schinnerer and I, also offer a unique approach to couples therapy in which I see the woman individually, he sees the man individually, then all four of us come together to do the relational work. This system was born of our realization that the missing component from traditional couples therapy is a simultaneous focus on couples therapy as well as individual work. In other words, there must be an ongoing interplay of doing the inner work on yourself, as well as developing a strong set of relational skills, including how to repair after a conflict, effectively communicate and turn towards the relationship. When reaching out for an inquiry, specify which couple’s therapy format you may be interested in.
- In-person Intensives: Sometimes a 50-minute session in the middle of your week is insufficient to create the movement you are seeking to feel more healed, regulated or resolved. During an intensive we can create more spaciousness, allowing us to go deeper, moving the needle quicker towards your therapeutic goals.
