Individual Therapy for Adults
You’re likely holding everything together for everyone, and are feeling burnt out. You take care of your work, your relationships, your family, and are likely feeling like you at the bottom of your priority list, instead of the top. It’s possible you feel guilty for needing or wanting more self care, and may even had a hard time admitting the things you are struggling with because you don’t want anyone to think you are not grateful for the life you have built. And yet, you sense there is more to life, and are questioning whether you are the only one who feels like it’s not supposed to be this hard.
Let me tell you, you are not alone. In this day and age, there is so much to be stressed about, and there is very little role modeling for how to navigate everyday life, let alone a difficult past, challenging relationships or even some trauma. If you are feeling more anxious than you’d like to admit, are on the cusp of a life change has left you questioning who you are now, or perhaps have simply reached a point where the old coping strategies aren’t cutting it anymore, then you are in the right place.
Individual therapy is a place to slow down, feel understood, and gently explore what’s underneath the surface, along with learning practical tools to help you move forward with more clarity, ease, and confidence.
Individual clients come to see me when they are experiencing…
- anxiety, stress, and chronic overwhelm, and don’t have the tools to consistently help them feel better
- life transitions such as divorce, empty-nesting, career changes, retirement, aging parents, grief or loss
- identity shifts and questions of self-worth or belonging
- ongoing, negative relationship patterns that they are ready to break and learn new ways of communicating and connecting
- depression, emotional numbness, or low-grade burnout
- relationship contemplation – aren’t sure if you want to stay or go, and how to decide if a relationship is capable of saving
- parenting challenges; wish there was a rule book to navigate the different ages and stages
- a desire to feel more like themselves again, even if they don’t know who they are at this point in time
How we work together
My approach is client-centered, which means that I have no agenda for how our work unfolds; through the process of being witnessed and seen with compassion and acceptance, healing begins to occur. I’m very curious about your past and how it has shaped your present, and am equally interested in helping gain clarity on what you’d like your future to look like and remove the roadblocks standing in your way. Our sessions are rooted in mindfulness, attachment theory, and Internal Family Systems (IFS) — approaches that help you understand not just what you’re feeling, but why, and more importantly, what to do with it. The work is collaborative, non-judgmental, and paced to what you actually need.
I offer virtual therapy throughout California and in-person therapy intensives in Danville, CA for clients who want deeper, accelerated work.
